Event Photographer

Wanted! Event Photographer

Are you an event photographer that loves shooting, but hates the marketing/sales/emails/customer service and all that entails getting you to that photoshoot?

Come be an event photography contractor at Denver Headshot Co., a small, industry-leading, tight-knit portrait company in the Denver metro area.

We are looking to bring on an awesome event photographer as a contractor to help with event photography for the companies we work with. No editing, booking or marketing required – not even culling. We fill you in with details when we need event coverage. You go to the shoot and make magic happen. Most events are during the week, so you’ll still have the freedom to do your own thing. We particularly love wedding photographers, especially if you’re looking for some more consistent work during the week!

Who is the perfect candidate for this role? Is it you?!

You: Experienced Photographer

You’ll need to have a strong and diverse portfolio of event photos. Speakers on the stage, group photos and details. Candid and posed.

You need an expert level off-camera flash experience (speedlight and strobe) with the confidence that you’ll be able to learn more quickly and easily.

You: Sparkling Personality

We are looking for a great photographer, yes, but also the right fit for our team with the hopes of this being a long-term and fruitful relationship.

We’re a quirky, caring, and authentic group and are looking for the same. We want someone to join us that has the confidence to photograph the President and the humility to take the trash out after the session is over. You legitimately like people (and they like you back). You care deeply about how a client feels when working with you. You don’t like the business, sales, and editing side of photography but could shoot all day. You have a growth mindset and learn and work well in a team environment, but also feel confident working solo.

This job is an excellent fit for a wedding or family photographer who would like some consistent work during the week with the freedom to still run your photography business.

What to expect:

The position will be approximately 5-10 hours a week with good pay and flexibility based on your schedule. If all ends up being a fit, your hours can grow and we’ll move you to an employee. You will start as an independent contractor and will need to have your own liability insurance.

Pay

Pay is $50-$75 an hour depending on experience, paid every two weeks by direct deposit.

Location

You must live in the Denver metro area to apply and have supplemental work (your own photography biz is great).

Job Perks

As you grow in your position, the potential for coming on as an employee & increased pay will be available. You will still be able to operate your own business.

Responsibilities

  • Take professional pictures on location using external flash
  • Able to do event photography outside of normal business hours
  • Work closely with clients and colleagues to produce high-quality images based on client needs
  • Attend a monthly team meeting (usually virtual) where we nerd out and learn from each other.

Requirements

  • Business liability insurance
  • Your own reliable transportation
  • Digital SLR/mirrorless camera, portrait lens (85, 105), 70-200 lens, 35mm lens, a wide angle lens, speedlight(s)

Qualifications

  • Significant photography experience as a lead photographer, a minimum of 5 years. (sorry, too fast paced for newbies!)
  • Extensive experience in directing people for small and large group portraits on location
  • Quickly feel comfortable operating any kind of camera or light out there
  • Expert-level knowledge in both artificial and natural lighting.
  • Customer focus with a desire to over-deliver on quality
  • Able to follow instructions clearly to achieve desired results
  • Flexible to travel to locations as required of the job using your own vehicle
  • Ability to think on the spot and problem solve
  • Must have a growth mindset and the humility to welcome and receive constructive critique
  • Strong communication, people, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with people who look like realtors and doctors (as opposed to brides and models)
  • Be open to learning and growing and helping others to do the same

If you’ve got extensive event photography experience, great people skills, and would love some consistent, part-time work, please contact us with your portfolio.

We look forward to hearing from you!
